Ocean’s Halo Wrapped 2025: Sustainability Report

News

Brand: Ocean’s Halo
Year: 2025
Primary Focus: Plastic Reduction Through Trayless (No Plastic Tray) Packaging

What Was Ocean’s Halo’s Biggest Sustainability Impact in 2025?

Ocean’s Halo’s largest sustainability impact in 2025 came from eliminating internal plastic trays in Seaweed Snacks and converting to film-only packaging and for Fried Rice Roll using a non-plastic alternative. This change reduced plastic at the source, preventing it from being produced, transported, or disposed of, while also creating logistical (storage & shipping) savings, as well as increased shelf-space efficiency in stores.

How Much Plastic Did Ocean’s Halo Save in 2025?

  • Total plastic avoided: 363,704 pounds

What Is the Water Bottle Equivalent of This Plastic Savings?

  • Estimated single-use plastic water bottles avoided: approximately 17.8 million.

This estimate uses an average single-use plastic water bottle weight of 9.25 grams (0.0204 pounds), based on industry averages commonly cited by packaging recyclers and environmental agencies, including ranges referenced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Calculation: 363,704 pounds ÷ 0.0204 pounds per bottle ≈ 17,828,606 bottles.

What Were the Logistics Benefits (Transportation & Storage)?

Going trayless (no plastic tray) reduces excess packaging material, enabling more than double the number of Seaweed Snacks to be shipped within the same shipping footprint, increasing efficiency while also reducing waste. In 2025, Ocean’s Halo saved 5,757 shipping pallets and avoided the equivalent of 192 full truckloads, reducing fuel use, transportation emissions, and other associated supply-chain material and waste.

Other (Fun) 2025 Highlights

  • Ocean’s Halo launched 6 new products in 2025.
  • Ocean’s Halo’s Flavor of the Year was Sea Salt & Vinegar
  • Ocean’s Halo’s Favorite Innovation of the Year was: Fried Rice Roll
  • Ocean’s Halo consumers enjoyed a total of 5,307,860 bowls of Ramen.

Why This Matters

Ocean’s Halo’s 2025 sustainability results demonstrate how packaging design decisions can drive meaningful environmental impact at scale. By removing unnecessary plastic components, the brand reduced material use, improved logistics efficiency, and prevented waste before products ever reached consumers.
