Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Snacks are yummy, better-for-you sheets of high quality, USDA-certified organic seaweed which are lightly roasted with healthy safflower and sunflower oil, and perfectly seasoned with our unique flavors like Texas BBQ, Sriracha and Maui Onion, in addition to simple Sea Salt. With only 20 calories in a pack, it’s the perfect thing to put in your bag or kid’s lunchbox to satisfy your snacktime craving. Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Snacks come in convenient, multi-pack family grab-and-go sizes, and utilize compostable packaging materials.
What are Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Strips?

What’s different about Ocean’s Halo Seaweed?
Lots! Unlike a lot of other snacks out there, our seaweed snacks are roasted, not fried, so they’re not loaded with fat. They’re also made with seaweed, which is packed with nutrients and protein, with none of the bad stuff like GMOs, trans fats, MSG, or artificial anything. Our Snacks are made with USDA-certified organic seaweed.
How can something so good for me taste this good?

We know, it’s shocking—and awesome—that something this healthy could be this tasty. We worked really hard to make our seaweed snacks the tastiest thing in a bag. And with five different flavors—Sriracha, Sea Salt, Maui Onion, and Texas BBQ—there’s something for everyone.

Why is seaweed considered a “superfood”?
Seaweed is one of the most nutrient-dense plants on the planet. It’s a great source of vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, and it’s also rich in many minerals including iodine, selenium, and iron. It can contain up to 10 times more calcium than milk and eight times as much as beef. Researchers say that the chemical composition of seaweed is so close to human blood plasma that perhaps its greatest benefit might be in regulating and purifying our blood system. Ocean’s Halo Seaweed products are also good source of Vitamin B12, wonderful news for all of our vegan and vegetarian fans! Each 20-calorie pack of Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Snacks contains 90% of RDA iodine, a mineral that is essential for healthy thyroid management.
What type of seaweed is used in Ocean’s Halo™ Snacks?
Our chips and snacks are made with a kind of seaweed commonly known as gim in Korea and nori in Japan. We only use high-grade, USDA-certified organic seaweed, sustainably harvested from ocean farms off the southwest coast of Korea. While most seaweed in Korea is designated organic by the Korean government, we only use seaweed grown on farms that have been certified by the USDA as organic, and carry the USDA-certification seal.
Do Ocean’s Halo™ products contain GMOs?
No. None of our products contain GMOs. We’re on a mission to create the healthiest, most delicious snack food available, and GMOs don’t fit into that plan.
Why do you support ocean farming?
We support responsibly managed, sustainable seaweed farms that require no fresh water and no fertilizer to grow their seaweed. These responsibly managed seaweed farms represent a more sustainable way to grow food, especially since seaweed is a “carbon-negative” commodity and one of the fastest growing crops in the world, with a seed-to-harvest cycle of as little as 15 days.

Who created Ocean’s Halo™?
Ocean’s Halo was created by four dads—two who grew up snacking on chips and two who were raised on seaweed—who are passionate about creating seaweed snacks healthy enough for the produce aisle, but delicious enough for the snack aisle.
Can farming seaweed actually be good for our planet?
Yes, it can! First, the ocean is filled with nutrients that all different types of seaweeds—and, in fact, our own bodies!—need to thrive. On top of that, unlike traditional crops like corn and wheat, seaweed requires no fresh water, no fertilizer and no clearing of the land. Finally, seaweed is one of the fastest growing crops in the world, and we’re proud to create a snack made from a food that’s good for us and our planet.
What is Cal Prop 65?
Cal Prop 65 is California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. Companies are required to place a warning label on any product they sell within California if it exceeds the level that the State has established as risk free for a list of over eight hundred chemicals. These limits are specific to the state of California and are drastically lower—up to150 times in some instances—limits that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has indicated as safe for consumption.
Why do certain retailers label Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Snacks with the Cal Prop 65 warning label? Are Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Snacks safe to eat?
Yes! Our snacks are safe, nutritious, and delicious. Plus, Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Snacks are USDA-Certified Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified and use only the finest, sustainably harvested seaweed and other top-quality ingredients. Our manufacturing facility is one of the largest producers of USDA Organic Seaweed in Korea. Additionally, our seaweed supplier is LRQA certified, the gold standard for quality control systems. Some retailers within the state of California choose to label all seaweed products (as well as other ingredients like ginger and brown rice) with the Cal Prop 65 label because seaweed has been known to exceed the level that the state of California has established as risk free for some compounds that are found on a list of over eight hundred chemicals, many of which are naturally occurring. The compounds that exceed the Cal Prop 65 safe harbor limits in seaweed are absorbed from the ocean and include Arsenic and Cadmium. We conduct the Prop 65 Testing with each harvest of Organic Seaweed, to ensure that we know how much, if any, of these Prop 65 compounds are in our products.
